A New Friend

Saturday April 6

It's always a surprise where poetry hides.  Recently, I found poetry hiding over at The Poem Farm with Amy Ludwig Van Derwater http://www.poemfarm.amylv.com/
Visit Amy and all the hard work she is doing to help teachers and students find the love of poetry.  I know you won't be disappointed.

Also, leave some congrats to Amy for the release of her first book of poetry for kids.  Even big kids!  It is a gem of a book.  Make sure you pick up a copy and give it as a gift.
  It's Here!

On Wednesday Amy included a post by me about my work with my neighbor Olivia.  Amy showcased Olivia's poems and notebook and in the process grew confidence in my 8 year old
poetry partner.  Amy has archived the post Wed. April 3.

It has been amazing reading Amy's daily post and how they remind me of my own memories.  Recently, she blogged about her grandmother's buttons.  A number of years ago I wrote an essay about my grandmother's jar of buttons.  Amy inspired me to take those words and reshape them into a poem.  It's growing and taking shape each day.

More to come.
